England 226 for 1 (Pietersen 111*, Cook 80) beat Pakistan
222 all out (Afridi 51, Finn 3-24) by nine wickets
Kevin Pietersen returned to form with his first ODI century in 39
matches as England cruised to a third consecutive win over Pakistan,
clinching the series with a match to spare. Alastair Cook was also on
form again but missed out on what would have been a record third century
in a row. He made 80 and shared a record opening stand with Pietersen
as England cruised home with 12 overs to spare.
Pakistan batted first for the first time in the series after
Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss but England once again struck with the new
ball, with Steven Finn taking three wickets, and restricted Pakistan to a
modest target which the batsman made light work of.
